The Sewing Expo and Girls Weekend (Last weekend)

I have been a little slow with my update on the Sewing Expo but here it is.  Kaylee and I were there together on Friday and had a great time, her favorite part was making a bracelet and watching the fashion show..she always loves that part :) then on Sat Kaylee and Abigail both came along with me. Abigail made herself a little bracelet and did a great job, we bought more beautiful fabric and that was about it (short attention span on this day). We ate out for lunch both days at their favorite places and then off to Steve's (my favorite place to buy fabric on the cheap) and picked up a couple pieces there, then over to Joannes for the final items we needed and home by 4:30 so all in a ll a pretty long day for the girls to be out running around. They played and Granny rested for a few minutes before fixing up dinner. We had a wonderful weekend while mommy and daddy were in TN and Bentley was at Nana's for the weekend.  i have several pics from the weekend but unfortunately I can not figure out how to down load them from my phone soooo.... while I try to figure that out you will just have to imagine the fun we had and the fabrics we bought LOL.... This is an outfit that i have made from some of the fabric I bought and I have to say i LOVE it!!!  I will have more new items out next week so be on the look out!

Nano and Jett

I thought it was SPF50—It was Cocoa Butter!!

I took my grandson Jett to the beach recently, and I made sure to lather him up with SPF...or so I thought! We had a great time, playing with other kids(3 sisters Jett met), playing with a sandcastle, playing in the water, even playing in a cabana, lying on the chaise lounges. He was loving every minute of it...and so was I!

Nano and his Sidekick JJ - Scaglione Past and Future – just taking in the sights, drinking up the sun! Sometimes, Life really is a Beach! We only stayed 2 hours, and I noted Jett looked pink when we left, but he had SPF, so...all was okay. But...it wasn't...I had inadvertently used Cocoa Butter instead of SPF50, on my 21 month old grandson! Within 4 hours, that pink turned to tomato, and our baby boy was sun burnt! All my fault.

POINT2PONDER: Why is that our best intentions still cause those we love to be hurt? We never intended them harm, but…

There they are, red as a tomato, and it's all your fault!
 
So...I saw Jett on skype that night. The picture was black, then there was my sidekick- tomato red! His first words, as he touched his ears, were..."Nano, Hurt!"
Poor baby...we sometimes unintentionally hurt the ones we love the most.

 When we do, own up to it, ask for forgiveness, accept that it may take some time to heal, physically and emotionally and learn the lesson that is looking at you!

Never Ever Assume A Single Thing...you have to read the label!!

“I’m Just Sayin’”

What makes a hero? Is it the cape? The superhuman strength? The ability to leap tall buildings? Maybe it’s the cool BatCar or ability to be invisible? Nah...I’m talking about the important kind of hero… the kind that lives among us.

 In your life… What makes a hero?

I am an extrovert; a participator, not spectator; a leader of the band; a “spotlight is on me” kind of guy; I don’t think there is a shy bone in my body…nah, just checked—not one!

So who would guess that my hero is this shy, introverted, kind of quiet, watcher of jeopardy and CNBC guy named Paul. He would rather have a thousand daggers thrown at him than have attention come his way.

He tries his best to avoid it, stay out of the limelight, redirect it to someone else and run the other way as soon as he thinks the spotlight is on--yep, that’s MY Hero!

Did I mention that he’s my big brother?

Paul had emergency surgery the other day. It was scheduled for “In and Out” in 30 minutes. No problem, just going to fix a complication that had arisen, but not anything to worry about at all.

But when…30 minutes became an hour; then an hour became an hour and a half; then an hour and a half become over 2 hours—you start that conversation in your head—come on? What’s going on here?

Then you start that conversation with God! “come on? What’s going on here, God? You would not do this to us? He has to be okay? Come on, please? Please let him be okay! Please God! Come on!”

And then…the surgeon arrives and tells you that he’s okay. Took a little longer than expected (A little longer? Like saying the Titanic is a big boat!) but, he will be okay!

It’s at that moment that you realize…I do not want to know what our lives would have been had it gone the other way. That’s the stuff that makes a hero...we can’t live without them… don’t even want to try!

The Bible tells us to give honor to those who serve well and render honor to those whom honor is earned (Romans 13:6-7).

Why don’t you take a moment to ask yourself, who’s your hero? The everyday one, not the one with the cape! By the way, it’s that everyday hero who is one call away...the caped guy is always too busy!

So…Paul is taken to his room, and we walk in. He says.”I’m on truth serum. Now’s your chance to ask me anything and I have to answer truthfully!”

I look at him and say, “Was I adopted?”

Without blinking an eye or missing a beat, My Hero responds, “Should have been!”

Priceless!

Even a 20 month old can...can make you laugh your head off!!

We watch movies to laugh, watch TV to laugh, watch YouTube..TO MAKE US LAUGH!
So many people spend so much time trying to make us laugh...it's an industry!
It's also a necessity to life...we need to laugh, we love to laugh, we have to laugh!!

Point2Ponder: Why do we try to create laughter and drum up things to laugh at, when the best spontaneous laughter happens when a 20 month old accidentally pulls the CODE BLUE button at the hospital, visiting his Papa Larry, causing 15 doctors to run in, expecting to resuscitate someone, just to see a little boy go…

DID I DO THAT???(remember Urkel's line?)

That grandson of mine…gotta love him! That’s our Jett!
It's the simple things that bring the best joys....the laughter caused by a little curious boy!

Guess he was attracted to the Color Blue? Of course he was!!

So next time you want to laugh, just take a little boy to the hospital and... turn him loose!

Sewing Expo Here I Come!

Thursday is the first day of the  Atlanta Sewing Expo and I will be there will bells on :) I look forward to this time of year all year. The classes are always awesome and the vendors are great as well. I think one of my favorite things they do during the expo are the fashion shows...very very cool for sure. The very best part of the experience is that my granddaughter Kaylee loves to go as well ,this will be her 3rd year going and she will go with me on Friday. Then for the first time her younger sister, my granddaughter Abigail will go with Kaylee and I on Sat. Last year Kaylee got to be an Ambassador  with me however, this year we have decided we did not want to participate in that manner. 

The Sewing Expo always jump starts your enthusiasm and creativity I think and I always come away wanting to do more with my craft and hopefully with a new skill or two and for sure new ideas and always always a new little gadget:) Maybe the girls and I will make something too sweet this weekend and I will post for you here and I will have pictures from the weekend for sure (not inside the expo since they frown on that sort of thing) but of all our other activities while they are spending over with me.

“I’m Just Sayin’”

"Schuyler, Kim and Jett before the call!"

“Life is what happens when you’re making other plans!” Anyone ever live this line? Yes, I see that hand! And that one, and that one, too!

We were celebrating my son’s 26^th birthday recently, at dinner with him and his wife Kim and Jett, just enjoying the moment! I asked him how he got to be 26? He replied, “The same way you got to be 51!” that kid! What a mouth on him! Wonder where he got THAT from? Hmmmm?

We were reflecting on how good his life is right now. He and his wife work for a large company who just handed out 19% yearly bonuses, which they were both enjoying! He just showed me this beautiful wedding ring he just bought Kim because she deserved the ring he always wanted to buy her! I must admit, it made me think…Bella’s gonna want a bigger ring now! Thanks son!

They were on a week’s vacation, heading out the next day to Disney to take Jett for some Fun in the Sun! He told me, “Pops (that’s what my son calls me!), I have never been happier!” and those words are exactly what a father wants to hear as he remembers other birthdays he shared with his son when that was NOT the case. Just to see them happy, loved and being loved…that’s all we want, right?

Went to sleep that night smiling, my baby, my baby boy…was finally happy! Life was good! Slept like a baby!

Woke up to find out Kim had been called in the middle of the night. Her father Larry had fallen out of bed. Had a major stroke, Was completely paralyzed on his right side, Was not able to speak. Had two blood clots on the brain, and Was not sure if he would make it.

Wow! Larry is 49, a bricklayer by trade, one of those outdoors kinds of guys. Always friendly, always happy, always smiling, always helping somebody build something, fix something, move something. That guy!

And now…he was paralyzed, with a feeding tube down his throat, restrained so he wouldn’t pull out his tubes, in ICU, fighting for the life we were just taking for granted! Life is what happens when…you know.

Maybe you can recall a moment when your life turned on a dime! Everything going great! Life was good! You were on top of the world! At the top of your game! Leader of the pack! I could go on…

Then one moment, one event, one circumstance…changed it all!

What did you do?  Who did you turn to? How did you get through that one unexpected event?

As for me and my house, we will trust the Lord! We have asked all we know who pray to pray for Larry. Please join us.

 As I have every other time tragedy has knocked on our door- I turned to God!

Psalm 121 states: “I will look to the heavens for my help, for my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth!”

Hey, if HE can make the heavens AND the earth, I am pretty sure HE can handle what I’m going through..You just have to TRUST HIM TO!!

So…no matter how your perfect life may suddenly turn south; go to sleep resting in your son’s happy life, wake up to see it all turned upside down--and Disney trip cancelled...

Just remember…Life may be what happens when you’re making other plans, but we know: God has a plan for you, for prosperity and blessing and joy and love- IF you will just look to HIM for your help!

Pretty new fabrics to play with :)

You all KNOW how I LOVE fabircs...seriously I think I am addicted to this whole fabric thing..the feel, the texture, and all the lush colors out there and whats more I love a wide array of fabrics not just one particular kind. I am the same way with music and can listen to and enjoy most all type of music. Well this week I needed to order more of a particular fabric that I am using in my Spring 2011 line and ended up being called to order a couple more pieces that are just beautiful. Here they are and while 1 is the same as I am currently using  1 is a new addition to the spring line and I was only able to snag 2 yards so it will go super duper fast but it is sooo pretty I just had to have, Now the 3rd and final piece is a beautiful soft cotton paisley embroidered Ivory fabric that will be perfect for summer beach dresses and I bought several yards of it so you can be on the look out for something beautiful from that for sure.

The infants Spring/Summer line will be out by April 1st and will include dresses suitable for Easter and anyone needing something for your infant prior to that time just let me know and I will be happy to make you something prior to the line actually coming out. This line will contain tiny little gingham checks in pink, blue, lemon, grass green, red and tiny shabby chic florals and several one of a kind seersucker prints that I have so these will go fast for sure. I also will be using some white vintage crocheted lace on these items...beautiful!

I am also working up my boys line and will have it out with in a couple of weeks, I have gotten all my patterns drawn out and fabrics chosen and most importantly a sweet little boy to do the modeling for me so now to get to the sewing:) I have some beautiful linen fabric that  will be a part of this collection and I hope you all love it like I do.
