I'm Just Saying by Alan P. Scaglione

'"I'm Just Sayin"'

by Alan P. Scaglione

I had the opportunity to inherit my grandparents’ dining room table from my Aunt Ciria who, at 79. is moving in with her daughter. This is the same table that my mother sat at with her four siblings and parents back in the 1940’s. I had to use some tools to take the table apart, and I pulled out my father’s toolbox he made for me when I went off to college. It was his tool box that he had filled with his spare tools and gave to me, just in case, he said, my car breaks down .

So I am using my Papa’s tools to take apart my Mama’s childhood dining table, and I suddenly get caught up in the moment. I look at my hands, with my father’s wrench, now covered in rust from handling the bolt I was taking out. Looking down, I realized--this rust was older than I am! Wow! This was one of those circle of life moments!

Kind of like how we are with God. It may take years to appreciate the heritage our parents passed on to us during all those Sunday School classes, Sunday morning services and family lunches with cousins. Until, one day, you realize you miss those times and wonder why this world is so messed up. Could it be that we don’t have any legacy to pass on to our kids for them to someday appreciate?

Have we replaced Sunday School, Church and family lunches with DS, Ipod and Wii? Is that the legacy we want passed onto the next generation? Are these the memories we want them to someday miss and cherish?

So, what was an old piece of furniture to someone else was my opportunity to sit with my family at the same table that my mother sat at with her family 70 years ago-now passed on to me!

The Word says in Proverbs 22:6 “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it!”

Until next time,

I’m just sayin’!

Thursday's Treasures

You know with me and this blog you just never know what might pop up on here and tonight I thought I would post a few little pics of my little treasures. My grandchildren are my greatest treasures and I love them all dearly.

Bentley turned 10 today and is my oldest and only grandson. He is extra special to me for reasons he does not even know and may never understand.

Next is Kaylee Mae and girl that thinks summer is all year long, wears flip flops even with snow on the ground just like her Aunt Vicki

Abigail is the 3rd one and the roughest most loving little girl ever was and she is 4

And last but certainly not least is Isabella (Bella) and she is now 8 months old and about 6.5 months months in this pic

Happy Thursday!

Reminder - Special guest Alan P. Scalione will be with us on Sunday Jan. 30th with another inspirational story/life lesson for you. This one is a favorite of mine already and I hope that it will be for you as well.

Blessings to all,
Suzann

Guest Blogger Alan P. Scaglione - "I'm Just Sayin"

Jett with his Nano (Alan)
                                 I’m Just Sayin’
By Alan P. Scaglione
I took my 19 month old grandson Jett to the beach this weekend! Yes, we live in Florida, and it was 78 degrees and a beautiful spring day at the beach! Jett had never been to the beach. He loved the sand and the texture of it in his hands. He started running toward the beach, and then he saw it! The Water! He took off for it, and I started running after him, wanting to be there to protect him, just in case.
So there’s Jett, at the shore, seeing the tide roll out, running toward it..when all of a sudden, it starts running back at him! His eyes get big as silver dollars..he wasn’t expecting that! He sees the water coming toward him, but he’s paralyzed..not able to move fast enough to get away from the tide now chasing him! Just as the water is about to cover his shoes, Nano(that would be me!) scoops him up, away from the tide and  lifts him to safety and Jett shouts out “Whee!”
Made me wonder? How many times do we go chasing after something, never in our wildest minds thinking, it may just turn and chase us back! And when it does, we are immobilized with fear or panic of what to do or how to remove ourselves from the impending harm or pain?
And then…in one gently felt swoop, we feel the arms of God lift us to safety…and we breathe that sigh and go “Whee!”
Next time you’re in trouble..just dial 911..Psalm 91:1 says, ”He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty!”

Saturday Special Reminder

This is going to be just a very short little message tonight as it has been a very very long 24 hours.
I ask for prayer for my family, we ask that you lift us up in prayer as we learn to deal with the difficult changes that we know are coming. I will talk more on this later however the Lord knows all.

The 2nd thing I have is a little reminder that my life long friend Alan will be a guest blogger tomorrow morning on my blog and I urge you to read his message and let him know if you are touched by his message so I can twist his arm and get him to come back again very very soon :) I could just read his writings all day long, he has such a way with words.

Hugs and prayers to all,

Suzann

Wonderful Wednesday

What a busy and productive day it has been for me. I like it when you can look back on the day and say I have accomplished XXXX and not look back and wonder what if anything you actually completed.

The day started with mom  going to the doctor and she is progressing as she should so all good on that front...now to get her off the Mountain Dew...not exactly the drink of choice for an insulin dependent diabetic! It is her drink of choice however. Next it was out to Monroe to pick up my racks and all GrannyZann clothing from the boutique out there after the shop owners unexpectedly decided to close shop.  I will be taking pics of all clothing that I had exclusively in that shop and get the pics/items loaded in my Etsy shop hopefully by the end of the weekend. I think this will be my last time to place on consignment with another boutique like that unless the shop is VERY established. I will at some point in the future have a shop of my own so watch out world!

I am soo looking forward to Thursday because my friend Maggie and her family will be here for a day or two while she has some test over at the Emory Transplant Center in Atlanta. Maggie is such a sweet lady and a great friend, oh and did I mention she makes the best spring rolls in the world!!! Yes the world I am sure of it and I have been known to eat 10 at a sitting....YIKES I can not believe I admitted that in a public forum but sadly it is the truth. Maggie is from Mainland China and just recently past her citizenship test so I am especially proud of her.

There is one more announcement that I am making tonight........my dear and long time friend Alan will be contributing to my blog with wonderful stories of inspiration, love, prayers that have been answered and his love for the Lord. Alan will share with us what is on his heart and take it from someone that has been privileged to read his writings for years he is AWESOME!!!! You will come away with renewed faith I promise you and many laughs along the way as he shares stories of his life with us. The first selection will be this coming Sunday Jan.23rd you will not want to miss it.

That is it from this tired girl on my wonderful Wednesday :) Hugs to all and I will see you soon.

Additional Sneak Peak of New Fabrics for Spring and Summer 2011

I have added 3 additional fabrics to my Spring Summer collection and this is your little sneak peak. I have not decided the patterns that I will use for the fabrics yet but have a good idea and will only make 4 total sets in this colorway. If there is a style you would like to see this fabric used in just let me know and I will put that option in the hat for a decision as well. :)

We are finally digging out from the snow and ice this week however my front yard is still completely covered and a good portion of it is like a sheet of ice that you slide on when trying to walk. They did have the salt trucks out here tonight for the first time since the snow came on Sunday so hopefully the remaining ice will be gone from our roads back here when we get up tomorrow. Martha needs to leave here in the morning about 7AM and she needs clear roads to get to Green county.

This is a short post tonight LOL but at least were are back on a roll here with 2 post in 2 days.

Hugs and I will see you tomorrow

Happy 2011

Meadering Vines (Spa)
Pretty Bird (Lime)
Happy 2011 to everyone! It has been a long time since I have taken the time to write in my blog...just seems that everything else take the place of the time needed to update Ms. Blog every day or so.  It will be my goal to be better about the updates this year and these updates will include family life, Etsy shop, maybe some new recipes and my favorite part...a special inspirational message from a life long friend. You will not want to miss out on these messages I promise you and the first one is schedule for the last Sunday in Jan. so keep your eyes peeled.

I have chosen a few of the Spring and Summer fabircs I will be using and have pics for you here to look at. I have a photo shoot set for the first Sat. in Feb. and can not wait to show you what I have been working up for my Etsy Shop and the boutiques that I work with.

Some of the fabrics I will be using Pretty Bird Collections by Michael (In Lime), Meandering Vine (in Spa), and Bloomies (in Lime)
Bloomies (Lime)

I have also chosen Tina Givens Tree Top Fancy Collection to work with in 4 designs. This shows all of them however I will be working with just 4 of these awesome fabrics. See the beautiful collection here and I will be using 3, 7, 9 and 1 additional one not shown.

I also have a beautiful White on White damask with tiny little flowers just perfect for all of those dressy and casual occassion. This is the listing in my shop showing the fabric up close. Beautiful!!! I will be offering this in a few different styles not just the jumper shown here.

There will be new patterns and you will see some of the old standards retired this spring as well but more of that to come later :)

Enjoy and there will be more to come later

Hugs,
Suzann
