Honor…it’s a funny thing! Not funny in the laugh out loud kind of way; more funny in the “scratch your head and go hmmm” kind of way.
What is honor? Why do we pay it and when? Who deserves it? Why is it so lacking in today’s society?
Honor…The good Book says Honor is given to whom honor is due.
But—it’s not respect, it’s not fear, it’s not even acknowledgment.
Honor is…
Driving 200 miles to a funeral just to pay your respects to a man whom honored his God, family and country.
Honor is…
Stopping by to visit an elderly aunt who may be in her last year of life – just to let her know she still matters to you.
Honor is…
Remembering the day your niece was killed by a drunk driver, even if it was 21 years ago.
Honor is… displaying in action that someone mattered enough for you to show your respect. Honor is a verb!
POINTS2PONDER Why do we talk a lot about honor and yet display so little of it? Why is it not worth our time to honor someone? Why are we too busy to give but never too busy to receive. They gave to us willingly, but why is it such an effort to give to them..the one thing they are due?
I could have kept my holiday plans for Savannah—but I chose to go to a funeral.
I could have just gone to the beach to watch the sunset- but I chose to visit my aunt.
I could have not bothered with the memory—just another day; but, it’s not just another day for my brother.
You have the right to live your life however you see fit, but what is a life without honor?
Who deserves your “honor” today?
Who is worth your time, your effort, your sacrifice just because…they matter to you; they left an indelible mark on your heart?
Honor is given where honor is due….who is it due for you?
