Tasty Tuesdays........Recipes From My Granny McCleary's Collections

One of Granny's Recipe Holders
This weeks recipe is for Frosted Molasses Bars and Granny has written beside them "Very Good" and they certainly were!

Ingredients:
6 Tablespoons Oleo (Butter)
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Molasses
1 Egg
2 Cups Plain Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Raisins
1/2 Cup Nuts ( I believe it says Pecans but not 100% sure) I would think that walnuts would be great as well or no nuts if you do not care for them.

Cream Oleo (Butter) , Sugar, Molasses, and Vanilla. Add Egg and beat until creamy.

Sift Flour, Salt, Baking Soda, Baking Powder together and add to creamed mixture above alternately with the milk. Once Milk and Flour mixture have been added into the creamed mixture stir in Nuts and Raisins.

Turn into a greased and floured Jelly Roll Pan (like a cookie sheet with sides). Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350*
Remove from oven and while still hot spread with powdered sugar icing.

Powdered Sugar Icing (really a glaze)
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla
2-3 Teaspoons Milk
Blend and pour over cake

Enjoy
